R Matthews, CSM, PMP is a Delivery Manager at Moody's Ratings, where he leads Agile teams and shepherds technology projects from idea to launch. He graduated from Brandeis University with degrees in Computer Science (BS) and African & African American Studies (BA), and began his career as a software engineer before growing into delivery and program management. R is passionate about helping others through technology and innovation, and hopes to use his leadership, critical analysis, and technical skills to better the world.

R has grown from software engineer to delivery leader at Moody's Ratings, in Charlotte, NC:
Leads two cross-functional Agile teams (15+ engineers, QA, and designers) delivering a KYC/AML customer-screening platform for commercial onboarding. Facilitates all Scrum ceremonies, partners with product owners on roadmap and prioritization, manages risks and dependencies, and uses delivery metrics to keep teams shipping predictably and at a sustainable pace.
Built and enhanced full-stack features for a PDF-extraction platform using Angular and Java. Contributed to Agile ceremonies, story estimation, and continuous-improvement initiatives while mentoring junior developers on coding standards and best practices.
Delivered a React-based design library adopted across multiple products, improving UI consistency and development efficiency, and supported release readiness on Moodys.com. Led cohort meetings and organized events that fostered inclusion and knowledge sharing across the rotation program.

R took the TEDx stage at Brandeis University to deliver "Loc'd and Coded: The Politics of Dreadlocks," a talk on identity, perception, and respectability politics.
A platform that helps Veterans share feedback about the schools where they used their GI Bill benefits. R built the front end during his civic-tech fellowship with the Digital Service team at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
A voice-enabled search application that helps patients find doctors by insurance, specialty, location, and language spoken. Winner of the AVIOS Student Speech Application Contest.
