Civic Digital Fellowship
In the summer of 2018, I joined the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and its Digital Service team (DSVA) through Coding it Forward's Civic Digital Fellowship. Coding it Forward is a student-led nonprofit that helps computer science, data science, and design students put their skills toward public service, and the fellowship places student technologists on meaningful government projects for ten weeks.
Working with fellow technologist Mariam Mayanja, I helped research, design, and build the GI Bill School Feedback Tool — a tool that helps Veterans submit feedback about the schools where they used their GI Bill benefits.
My focus was the front end. The tool later went live on VA.gov; here are a few clips of the redesigned experience I worked on:
